What You’ll Experience

🎶 Music

In our Music rotation, campers dive into rhythm, pitch, and basic harmonies through fun, hands-on activities. Using instruments like rhythm sticks, egg shakers, and percussion, kids engage their whole bodies as they clap, move, and create together. This high-energy class builds listening skills, musical confidence, and joyful expression. Campers learn that music isn’t just something you hear — it’s something you feel and share.

💃 Dance

Our Dance rotation gets campers moving with purpose and confidence. Through expressive movement and beginner-friendly choreography, kids learn coordination, teamwork, and stage presence in a fun, encouraging environment. Each session helps campers grow more comfortable using their bodies to communicate joy and emotion. It’s all about building confidence while celebrating creativity.

🎭 Drama

In Drama, campers explore storytelling, expression, and performance in a supportive space. Through group scenes, creative exercises, and informal audition-style practice, kids develop projection, character skills, and stage confidence. Every child is encouraged to step out boldly and discover their unique voice. Drama at Spark Camp is about growing courage, creativity, and teamwork — all while having fun.

🎬 Friday Night Performance

At the end of the week, campers take the stage for our Friday Night Live Performance — a full musical theater production on a professional stage. Families are always amazed at how much the kids learn in just one week and how polished and professional the performance feels. It’s a powerful, joy-filled show filled with inspiring, faith-centered messages led by the kids themselves.

✝️ Community Time

Each day, campers gather for Community Time — a fun and meaningful session where everyone comes together. We start with a high-energy group game and an engaging skit performed by our middle and high school volunteer team. Then we share an object lesson that clearly teaches our Biblical theme in a way kids can understand and apply to their lives.

🎨 Art

In our Art rotation, campers explore their creativity as they design and create 2–3 unique pieces of artwork throughout the week. Using a variety of materials and techniques, kids are encouraged to express their ideas, faith, and imagination in a hands-on, inspiring environment. Each piece becomes part of something bigger — their artwork will be proudly displayed and presented during our final performance.

❊ FAQs

You’ve got questions,
we’ve got answers

  • A typical day looks like this:

*Please note campers rotate with their grade through the 4 rotations (music, dance, drama and art)

    9:30-10:15 Rotation 1
    10:15-11:00 Rotation 2
    11:00-11:45 Snack & Rotation 3
    11:45-12:30 Lunch (outdoors, weather permitting!)
    12:30-1:15 Games & Community Time
    1:15-2:00 Rotation 4

  • Campers should bring a water bottle and lunch - both clearly labeled. They should wear shoes they can dance in (no-flip-flops). After they are given their student guidebook on Day 1, they should bring it back with them daily.

  • Your child’s safety is one of our highest priorities at Spark Camp. All staff and volunteers undergo background checks, and we maintain a 1:6 staff-to-camper ratio to ensure attentive supervision throughout the day. Attendance is taken regularly so we always know where each camper is, and our elementary-aged campers have access to their own private bathrooms for added comfort and security. We also have trained team members and basic first aid supplies on site to respond quickly to any minor medical needs.

  • Audition materials — short, easy-to-memorize lyrics and script lines — are given to campers on the first day so they have time to practice. These can be found in the Guidebook, given to campers on Day 1. This information includes a QR code to access music at home. On Day 2, every student has the opportunity to audition during class, either individually or with a buddy to help build confidence, and no child is ever pressured to audition if they’re uncomfortable. Callbacks are held on Day 2-3, and we connect with parents of students who receive featured roles that require additional memorization. While we can’t give every camper a lead role, we use our special “casting puzzle” to ensure each child has a meaningful part — because at Kaleo, “The show Can’t Go on Without You!”

  • Item descriptionNot at all! Spark Camp is open to every child and every family, whether you attend church regularly, occasionally, or not at all. Our heart is simply to introduce kids to a God who is crazy in love with them and has a beautiful plan and purpose for their lives, and we hope to spark an interest in wanting to know Him more and experience His love personally. Throughout the week, campers encounter encouraging Biblical themes in a joyful, welcoming environment where they are valued, included, and celebrated just as they are.

  • Absolutely! We have a strong track record of working with shy students and helping them feel safe, supported, and comfortable at their own pace. Our encouraging staff, small group rotations, and buddy-friendly audition options create an environment where kids can gently step outside their comfort zones. We often see incredible breakthroughs in confidence by the end of the week as campers discover their gifts and realize they are capable of more than they thought.

  • Yes! Middle and high school students are welcome to apply to volunteer at camp (learn more at www.go-spark.com/volunteer), where they gain leadership experience and serve younger campers. Many of our volunteers continue serving with us in future seasons, and some may be invited to step into paid assistant roles as opportunities become available. We also offer a Summer Songwriting Camp specifically for middle and high schoolers, where students write and record original music — with select songs even featured on our Spark Camp albums. See more information about Spark Camp Original Music to learn how students can get involved.on

  • Yes! We have limited volunteer opportunities (requiring background check for 18 and over). You can apply here: www.kaleoarts.org/volunteer.

  • Did you know we release original albums of worship and faith-based songs written by our very own students? All year long our middle and high school artists collaborate on music that reflects what they’re learning and experiencing in their faith. • Yes! Kaleo Arts is our community-based program that is rooted in character values (for example, teamwork, generosity, being unique…etc). We often do this in partnership with public schools.

Spark is our faith-based program where we explicitly connect our faith to our talents and gifts, introducing students to the joy of being loved by Jesus and using our love of the performing arts to share that joy with others.
